The single most important component of any deck is the sub-frame. Strong, stable and completely wood free - the defining feature of any AB Sundecks sub-frame.
All of our decks come with a 10 year guarantee and the only way we can fully protect this is by building our decks on a maintenance-free galvanised steel frame.
We only use galvanised steel and stainless steel fixings to build and secure our sub-frames, this can also be seen inside all of our posts and handrails, and is what ensures that the sub-frame lasts far longer than its 10 year guarantee.
You will never find wood anywhere on an AB Sundeck. It is a well-known fact that timber rots, even if you use treated timber you still have the problem of it sitting wet, soaking up water from the deck itself as well as the ground beneath it. Encased in PVC it is unable to dry out in the sun but sweats instead, further accelerating the rotting process.
A steel sub-frame is the only way to ensure that your deck exceeds its 10 years and complies with fire safety regulations, a steel sub-frame also means that any deck may be moved, re-sited or extended with minimal disruption or risk of damage.
